In a heartbreaking turn of events that unfolded around the Christmas holiday, six-year-old Markell Beasley was found dead in what authorities have described as a murder-suicide. The young boy's life was tragically cut short on Christmas Eve in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, after a frantic search that began days earlier. Markell was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound, alongside the man responsible for his death, 40-year-old Demetrius Beasley.
The distressing ordeal began when Markell's
mother, Michelle Gelling, allowed her son to go with relatives of Demetrius Beasley for what she was led to believe was a Christmas gathering. It was later revealed that this was a ruse, and the relatives delivered Markell into the hands of Demetrius. Demetrius, who was not Markell's biological father but had a previous relationship with his mother, was legally prohibited from being around children due to pending child molestation charges. An Amber Alert was issued for Markell as the situation escalated.
During the abduction, Demetrius Beasley reportedly sent threatening messages to Markell's mother, stating that she would not see her son again and that 'God would see Markell before she would.' The search for the young boy came to a tragic end when police were called to a residence in Cape Girardeau following reports of gunshots. Inside, they found the bodies of both Markell and Demetrius Beasley.
