On the night of June 17, 2017, violence erupted in the Vanderlou neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, claiming the life of 22-year-old Demarco Mars. Around 10:00 p.m., police officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of Labadie Avenue following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival at the scene, they discovered Mars suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.
Despite the emergency response, he was pronounced dead at the location, becoming one of several victims in a violent weekend across the city.
