On August 5, 2022, 22-year-old Daevon Higgs was found shot multiple times in the parking lot of the Ravine Park Village apartment complex in East Toledo, Ohio. He was transported to St. Vincent Medical Center but did not survive his injuries. The Lucas County Coroner's Office ruled his death a homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Prior to his death, a murder warrant had been issued for Higgs in connection with the shooting death of 28-year-old Catherine Craig on July 31, 2022.
Police responded to reports of shots fired at North Detroit Avenue and Council Street, where Craig was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound. She was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The investigation revealed that Higgs, along with Steven Weaver and Demond Allen, were involved in Craig's death. Weaver and Allen were both arrested and charged with her murder.
