On a summer evening in Kansas City, Missouri, a sequence of violent events unfolded, leaving three men dead, including Andre Barnes. On July 1, 2017, the 49-year-old man from Tulsa, Oklahoma, had traveled to the city with two other men, Darren Harris and John Waldon. Their trip was allegedly for a transaction that may have been related to the purchase of illegal substances.
The night took a fatal turn when Kansas City police were called to a scene where they discovered a silver BMW with
a shattered driver's side window. Inside the vehicle was the body of Darren Harris, who had been shot multiple times. Later that same night, the investigation led officers to a second location on Myrtle Avenue. There, they found the bodies of Andre Barnes and John Waldon lying on the pavement. Both men had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The area was littered with dozens of spent shell casings from two different caliber firearms, indicating the intensity of the violence that had occurred.
A lengthy and complex investigation into the triple homicide followed. Detectives utilized forensic evidence, including fingerprints and cell phone records, which eventually pointed them toward two suspects. Rashidi Crosdale and Tyree West were subsequently indicted in connection with the murders. The two men were charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder and armed criminal action. The indictment accused them of acting either alone or together in the killings of Barnes, Harris, and Waldon.
