In the early evening of January 12, 2015, a violent encounter shattered the night in Kansas City, Missouri, claiming the life of 41-year-old Ronzell Wright Sr. The male victim was at an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Bushman Drive, near the intersection of 63rd Street and The Paseo Boulevard, when gunfire erupted shortly before 9 p.m.
According to reports, the incident was a drive-by shooting.
Wright and another individual, who were in separate apartments at the time, were both struck by bullets. Some witnesses provided a slightly different account to police, stating that the men and at least one other person had been shooting at each other in the parking lot of the complex. In the immediate aftermath, both wounded men were rushed to local hospitals for treatment. Tragically, Ronzell Wright Sr. was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
The Kansas City Police Department opened an investigation into the homicide, seeking to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. Despite their efforts and appeals to the public for information, the case has grown cold. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
