On July 16, 2017, 36-year-old Deandre Mayo was shot and killed in Saint Louis, Missouri. The fatal incident occurred after a brief interaction between Mayo and his assailant. According to reports from the time, the shooter engaged Mayo in conversation before drawing a weapon and opening fire.
