On the afternoon of October 4, 2017, seventeen-year-old Kameron Harvey was riding his bicycle in the Bellefontaine Neighbors area of St. Louis, Missouri, when he became the target of a fatal shooting. The male teenager was pedaling along Ashbrook Drive when unknown assailants opened fire, striking him multiple times. At the time of his death, Harvey was out on bond and under house arrest while awaiting trial for involuntary manslaughter. The charges stemmed from a tragic incident in December 2015, when a then-15-year-old Harvey was visiting a home and handling a handgun equipped with a laser sight. According to investigators, he had been letting 3-year-old Xavier 'Zae' Robinson chase the laser beam across the floor when the weapon discharged, striking the child in the chest. Harvey fled the scene initially but turned himself in the following day, expressing that the shooting was an accident.
