In the days following the homicide, law enforcement officials arrested two suspects in connection with the death. A 24-year-old man from California was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder, while a 24-year-old woman was arrested and faced charges of second-degree murder. He was remembered by his family for his love of the outdoors, including activities such as camping, fishing, and caving. Following the completion of the autopsy and the initial investigation, his family held a visitation to mourn his sudden loss. The legal proceedings against the two accused individuals commenced shortly after their booking into the Greene County Jail.
