On the afternoon of November 12, 2017, a frantic scene unfolded outside the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. At approximately 4:06 p.m., a white Dodge Charger pulled up to the hospital's emergency entrance carrying multiple individuals who had been caught in a violent shooting. Among the wounded passengers was Lamon Edwards Clark-Bey Jr., a 23-year-old Black male who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the incident.
Medical personnel immediately attended to the victims, working desperately to stabilize their conditions as police officers were dispatched to the scene to investigate the origins of the violence.
Despite the urgent medical intervention provided by the hospital staff, the injuries Clark-Bey sustained proved fatal, and he succumbed to his wounds shortly after his arrival. The event was immediately classified as a homicide, prompting the Kansas City Police Department to launch a full-scale investigation. Homicide detectives, including Detective Drake of the KCPD, began piecing together the events that led the white Charger to the hospital, searching for the location where the shooting initially occurred and interviewing potential witnesses who might have seen the vehicle or the altercation.
