In the city of Saint-Louis, Missouri, the life of Victor Williams, a 33-year-old Black / African American male, was tragically cut short on November 13, 2017. The day was marked by violence, with Williams being one of three individuals who lost their lives in separate shootings across the northern part of the city. His death was the result of gun violence, a grim reality that his family and community were suddenly forced to confront.
In the wake of the shooting, investigators began the
arduous task of piecing together the events that led to Williams' untimely death. Their efforts led to the identification of a suspect, a man named Levander Williams. It was noted that the two men were not related, a detail that only added to the senselessness of the act. In January 2018, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office brought formal charges against Levander Williams, accusing him of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with Victor Williams' death.
The accused had a troubled past, having been previously convicted of a fatal shooting that occurred when he was just 15 years old. He had pleaded guilty in that earlier case and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. After being paroled, he had a subsequent parole violation that sent him back to prison until December 2016, less than a year before the shooting of Victor Williams. Following the charges in the new case, Levander Williams was ordered held on a $1 million cash-only bond as he awaited the next steps in the legal process. Despite extensive searches of online sources, no further information regarding a trial, conviction, or acquittal in the case against Levander Williams for the death of Victor Williams could be located.
