Cynthia K. Rudolph, a 58-year-old female, was discovered deceased on December 13, 2017, in a recreational vehicle situated in Springfield, Missouri, near the intersection of Douglas Avenue and Atlantic Street. Alongside her, authorities found the body of Phillip Rice, 62.
The events leading to the discovery began to unfold when the Springfield Police Department received a call to check on the well-being of the individuals in the RV at approximately 2 p.m.
The person who made the call indicated that a woman was being assaulted and that a gunshot might have been discharged. Upon their arrival, police officers attempted to establish contact with the occupants of the RV but were met with no response.
Gaining entry by force, the officers found both Ms. Rudolph and Mr. Rice inside, both having sustained what appeared to be fatal gunshot wounds. The preliminary findings of the investigation pointed towards a murder-suicide scenario. As a result, law enforcement officials have not pursued any other suspects in relation to this case.
