In the winter of 2018, the life of 29-year-old Raquel R. Montgomery was tragically cut short in Springfield, Missouri. Known to her friends and family as 'Rocky,' she was described as an energetic person with a heart of gold who loved music and being surrounded by her loved ones.
On the evening of February 13, 2018, an argument erupted during a drug transaction, leading to a fatal shooting.
Raquel, a female, was involved in a dispute with Carlton Williamson, then 34, over the weight of methamphetamine he was selling her. According to a witness, the disagreement escalated, and Raquel removed a handgun from her waistband. As she held the gun at her side, two shots were fired. The witness reported seeing Williamson holding a gun immediately after the shots. Raquel passed away at 10:00 p.m. at Mercy Hospital.
The investigation into her death led to the arrest of Carlton Williamson. In March 2020, he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the killing of Raquel Montgomery. As a result of his guilty plea, Williamson was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the murder. He also received concurrent sentences of three years for armed criminal action and ten years for a drug charge. Williamson had prior felony convictions for second-degree robbery and resisting arrest.
