A warm summer evening in Kansas City, Missouri, turned tragic on Monday, June 25, 2018, when 15-year-old Demonte Walker was fatally shot. The violence that claimed his life also took his friend, 16-year-old Jeremiah Stewart. The two boys were in the 3600 block of Wabash Avenue when the sound of gunfire shattered the night. Responding officers discovered both teenagers suffering from gunshot wounds. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, but their injuries proved to be fatal.
