On July 15, 2018, a violent confrontation in St. Louis, Missouri, claimed the life of Shannon D. Hibler. The 23-year-old Black male was at a Price Chopper grocery store located at 2747 Goodfellow Boulevard in the Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood when the incident occurred. Emergency responders were called to the scene in the afternoon, where they discovered Hibler suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
