On December 10, 2018, Anthony Page Jr., a 42-year-old man, was fatally shot inside a residence in the 4600 block of Chelsea Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri. The incident unfolded after what witnesses described as an argument between Page and another man. When police officers responded to reports of a shooting, they discovered Page suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter.
The man he had been arguing with had fled before law enforcement arrived.
Investigations into the shooting quickly led to a suspect identified as Junius Morrow, born on November 8, 1988. According to court records, the events leading to the shooting began with a knock at the door of the residence. When Page opened the door after receiving no answer to his inquiry of who was there, he was met by a gunman who pointed a handgun at him and fired multiple times. An eyewitness reported seeing a heavy-set Black male in a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans firing a handgun with an extended magazine into the home, discharging approximately six or seven rounds in total before fleeing. The gunman was seen getting into the passenger side of a dark Chevrolet Avalanche, which then sped away from the location.
Further investigation revealed a pre-existing conflict between Page and an individual known as 'Fat Boy,' who was later identified as Morrow. Associates of Page informed detectives that 'Fat Boy' had allegedly stolen Page's car and a firearm in the weeks prior to the shooting. A police report for the auto theft had been filed by Page, naming 'Fat Boy' as the suspect. Two days before the homicide, Morrow had reportedly been to the residence and attempted to gain entry by speaking with the daughter of Page's live-in girlfriend.
Junius Morrow was subsequently arrested and faced a series of eight felony charges, including Murder in the 1st Degree for the killing of Anthony Page. The other charges were two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, two counts of Armed Criminal Action, one count of Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree, one count of Kidnapping in the First Degree, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. The additional charges stemmed from a separate incident on December 11, 2018, where Morrow was a suspect in an Aggravated Domestic Assault and Kidnapping involving his girlfriend and her daughter. During that assault, he allegedly used a handgun similar to the one described by witnesses of the homicide. The handgun recovered from Morrow at the time of his arrest was found to be a match to the casings found at the scene of Page's murder. Prosecutors requested a $250,000 cash bond.
