On December 23, 2018, a violent incident unfolded in Kansas City, Missouri, claiming the life of Marquise Damontay Fleming-Douglas, an 18-year-old African American male. The tragedy occurred just two days before Christmas as Fleming was preparing to celebrate the holiday with his family, including his young children. He was situated in a silver Ford Mustang with three other individuals near the intersection of 22nd Street and Hardesty Avenue when the group came under attack.
