In the heart of a Saint Louis winter, just two days before Christmas in 2018, a tragedy unfolded that would leave a community reeling and a family grieving. On December 23rd, 53-year-old Darren Avery was found lifeless on a sidewalk in the 4400 block of Lexington Avenue.
