In the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 19, 1994, the body of Robert McFarland, a 31-year-old Black man, was discovered lying in an alley in the 5800 block of East Hastings Arch in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Police and rescue personnel arrived on the scene at approximately 3:00 a.m. to find that McFarland had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
