A Marine is shot and killed by a shooter in front of night club
In the early hours of a Sunday morning, on February 9, 1992, the life of 23-year-old Jason B. Walker was tragically cut short in Virginia Beach, Virginia. A Black male, Walker was a United States Marine Corps reservist and a student at Norfolk State University.
That night, Walker had been at the Bridge Nightclub in the Newpoint Shopping Center on Newtown Road, where he had been watching a performance by Rap Star Doo Doo Brown. At approximately 3:30 a.m., as he was driving his red Chevrolet Berretta through the shopping center's parking lot, the sound of gunfire erupted.
Witnesses at the scene described seeing a Black male, approximately 5' 10'' tall and wearing a black leather coat, firing a handgun in front of the nightclub. A projectile from the weapon shattered the window of Walker's car, striking him in the head. He was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries a short time later. The State Medical Examiner's Office officially ruled his death a homicide.
Despite the presence of witnesses, the case remains an active and unsolved homicide. No arrests have been made in the years following Jason B. Walker's death, and the identity of the man in the black leather coat remains unknown to the public. The Virginia Beach Police Department continues to list the case as active.
