On the night of March 29, 2019, Clinton Holman Jr., a 16-year-old male, was fatally shot in Kansas City, Missouri. Police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 4300 block of Indiana Avenue on the city’s East Side around 11:30 p.m. regarding a reported shooting. Upon their arrival at the scene, first responders discovered the teenager inside the home suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter, marking a violent end to the life of a student who had attended Central High School.
Investigators with the Kansas City Police Department immediately launched a homicide inquiry into the incident. In the days following the shooting, detectives released surveillance images to the public in hopes of identifying a subject of interest. On April 1, 2019, police circulated photos showing a man whose face was clearly visible, along with images of a vehicle believed to be connected to the crime. The car was described as a sedan, possibly a BMW, which was notable for missing a front license plate. Authorities appealed to the community for any leads regarding the individual or the vehicle depicted in the released materials.
Despite the release of this evidence and the solicitation of tips from the public, no immediate reports confirmed the apprehension of a suspect in the wake of the appeal. The case was one of several violent incidents involving teenagers in the area during that particular weekend, prompting calls for community assistance to solve the crime.
