Upon their arrival at approximately 6:32 p.m., authorities located not only Michael
Merchant but also 23-year-old Isiah Merchant, who was also suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The preliminary findings of the police investigation led them to believe that Isiah Merchant was the perpetrator, shooting Michael Merchant before turning the gun on himself. The St. Louis homicide division is handling the ongoing investigation into the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting.
