On the morning of July 30, 2019, tragedy struck in Pagedale, Missouri, a community within St. Louis County. Delores Kirk, a 58-year-old female, had just returned to her home near St. Charles Rock Road and Engelholm Avenue after finishing a work shift. Inside the residence she shared with her boyfriend, a domestic dispute reportedly erupted between the couple.
Family members present in the home later described hearing an argument that escalated into violence around 6:30 a.m.
The situation turned fatal when the boyfriend, identified as Jurvan Butler, allegedly produced a firearm and discharged it multiple times. Delores Kirk’s daughter, Ciarra Kirk, was in the home at the time and rushed to her mother’s bedroom after hearing the commotion. She recounted discovering the horrific scene where Butler was reportedly hovering over the victim as she suffered from gunshot wounds. Authorities arrived at the residence around 9:00 a.m. to find Delores Kirk deceased from her injuries.
Police investigation revealed a history of domestic violence between the couple. Following the shooting, Jurvan Butler was taken into custody and prosecutors subsequently filed multiple felony charges against him. He faced counts of second-degree murder, armed criminal action, tampering with physical evidence, and unlawful possession of a weapon. The charging documents noted the turbulent past between the victim and the suspect, marking a violent end to their relationship and leaving a grieving family to mourn the sudden loss of their mother and relative.
