Victor Castorrena, a 20-year-old Hispanic male, tragically lost his life on June 19, 2021, in Columbus, Ohio. He was fatally shot at a Certified Oil gas station on Frank Road around 11:18 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Castorrena suffering from gunshot wounds and immediately rendered first aid until paramedics arrived. Despite their efforts, Castorrena succumbed to his injuries at Grant Medical Center at 11:47 p.m.
The incident occurred less than an hour before the
end of a 24-hour ceasefire called by Black community leaders to peacefully celebrate Juneteenth. Unfortunately, the shooting disrupted this effort, and the case remains unsolved. Columbus police have not publicly identified any suspects and continue to investigate the fatal shooting. They have urged anyone with information to come forward and submit a tip.
