On January 2, 2020, 32-year-old male Jason R. Dudley lost his life following a violent encounter in the Dutchtown neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. Known to his friends and family as 'Jaybird,' the father of two and tree lineman was discovered inside a vehicle that had been reported stolen. Police officers responded to the scene in the late hours of the day, where they found him suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
Despite the arrival of emergency personnel, he succumbed to his injuries, marking one of the first homicides of the new year in the city.
The investigation into the shooting revealed a chaotic struggle leading up to the lethal gunfire. Detectives determined that a physical altercation had occurred involving a firearm, which ultimately discharged and struck Dudley.
