On a Sunday in December of 2014, a dispute between two men seated in the back of a car near Forest Park in St. Louis, Missouri, turned deadly. The argument escalated to a fatal confrontation that claimed the life of 35-year-old Jhonny Pavon. The male victim was shot in the chest, and his body was later abandoned on DeTonty Street in the Shaw neighborhood.
The investigation into the death of Pavon quickly led authorities to a suspect.
Melkis Oreyana, who was 27 at the time, was identified as the individual who allegedly shot Pavon. Following the incident, Oreyana fled the state, prompting a wider search.
A significant break in the case came when Oreyana was apprehended nearly 500 miles away from the scene of the crime. He was arrested in Louisa, Kentucky, by the Kentucky Highway Patrol. Following his arrest, Oreyana was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the death of Jhonny Pavon.
