On a Thursday afternoon in Saint-louis, Missouri, on January 11, 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the calm in the 3600 block of Cass Avenue. When the sounds of the shots faded, 44-year-old Samuel Butler, a male resident of the 2700 block of Henrietta Place, was left lying on a sidewalk. Police officers, responding to a call about the shooting around 3:30 p.m., discovered Butler at the scene.
He had sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead where he was found.
The investigation into the shooting death of Samuel Butler led authorities to a suspect. De-Andre Finney, a 28-year-old man from the 5900 block of Ferris Avenue in the city's West End neighborhood, was taken into custody in connection with the homicide. Prosecutors have since charged Finney with first-degree murder and armed criminal action, alleging his involvement in the violent death of Samuel Butler. He is currently being held without bond as the case proceeds through the legal system.
