Derrick Smith, a 31-year-old resident of Kansas City, Missouri, tragically lost his life on January 13, 2020. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when Kansas City police responded to a disturbance call in the 2700 block of Benton Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found Smith unresponsive near a home. Despite receiving first aid and being transported to a hospital, Smith was pronounced dead shortly after.
