In the early hours of a late spring morning in Kansas City, Missouri, a family gathering turned into a scene of tragedy. On May 30, 2020, 20-year-old Destiny Smith was fatally shot in a triple shooting that erupted near 10th and Summit streets. The incident, which unfolded around 3:30 a.m., also left another woman and a man with critical injuries.
