In the midst of a violent day in Saint Louis, Missouri, on June 7, 2020, a 39-year-old Black male named Robert Wilkes became one of five people fatally shot. Wilkes was discovered near the intersection of St. Louis Avenue and N. Newstead Avenue with a gunshot wound to his head. When police arrived at the scene, they found him unresponsive. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
