On the afternoon of August 10, 2020, violence erupted in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, drawing law enforcement to a scene of fatal gun violence. Around 2:00 p.m., officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call reporting a shooting in the 2900 block of Mount Pleasant Street. Upon their arrival, first responders discovered a male victim inside a vehicle who had sustained puncture wounds consistent with gunfire.
The victim was
identified as 25-year-old Jerald Massey. Despite the arrival of emergency personnel, Massey had already succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Homicide detectives immediately commenced an investigation, canvassing the residential area for witnesses and evidence that could shed light on the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
At the time of the incident, authorities did not release details regarding a potential motive or the description of any suspects involved in the slaying.
