Mario Anderson, 49, was killed in St. Louis, Missouri on December 2, 2020, in a shooting that left him with multiple gunshot wounds.
Days later, police recovered his body behind a vacant home in the 2200 block of Alberta Street in south St. Louis. Investigators said the body had been dragged to that spot, as if someone hoped the abandoned property would hide what happened long enough for the trail to cool.
Surveillance footage from the area captured images of two vehicles that detectives believed were used to dispose of the body: a Chrysler 300 and a Chevy Blazer. According to a probable cause statement summarized in reporting, the Chrysler was registered to a 21-year-old woman named Jasmine Baker, and the Blazer was registered to Baker’s mother. When police located both vehicles at Baker’s home, they reported finding blood on them.
Baker was charged with tampering with physical evidence and abandonment of a corpse. In the same reporting, Baker admitted she drove her mother’s Blazer that night to meet another person at the vacant home—an admission that pointed investigators toward at least one additional figure in the shadows, even if that person’s identity was not publicly detailed.
At the time those charges were announced, authorities said no one had been charged in Anderson’s killing itself. The case, as publicly described, sat in a grim in-between: one arrest focused on what happened after the fatal violence, while the question of who pulled the trigger—and why—remained unanswered in the public record.
