In the spring of 2021, a young man's life was tragically cut short in a south St. Louis alley. Obbie Shaw III, a 27-year-old Black male, was found deceased on the morning of May 16th. The call came in as a 'person down' at the intersection of Alaska Avenue and Schirmer Street, a report that would soon escalate into a homicide investigation.
Upon their arrival at approximately 11:29 a.m., police officers discovered Shaw in the alley, having sustained a gunshot wound to his chest.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. Further examination revealed the brutal nature of the attack; Shaw had been shot multiple times, with wounds to his chest, back, and legs. Investigators believe that at least three different firearms were used in the commission of the crime, a detail gleaned from a search warrant for a suspect's cellphone records.
