On the evening of June 5, 2021, a gathering for a child's birthday party in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood of South St. Louis, Missouri, turned into a scene of violence. William Deandre Kennedy, a 27-year-old male, was in attendance at the celebration held on the 3000 block of Mount Pleasant Street. The festivities were abruptly halted when Kennedy was targeted and shot by another individual present at the event.
