The young woman died from a gunshot wound to the head inside an apartment on South Stribling Street in what authorities described as a domestic dispute. She was pronounced dead at Oconee Medical Center, leaving her family and community in deep mourning.
The primary suspect in Lee's death was identified as her
25-year-old boyfriend, Richard Anthony Dunston, Jr., also of Seneca. Following the shooting, Seneca police considered Dunston armed and dangerous and issued a warrant for his arrest. The day after the incident, Dunston turned himself in to the authorities. He was subsequently charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
In the wake of Lee's death, her family and friends gathered for a vigil to honor her memory and to raise awareness about the scourge of domestic violence.
