In the early morning hours of June 18, 2021, a sequence of tragic events unfolded on Bellefontaine Road in St. Louis County, culminating in the death of 29-year-old Johnesia Murry. Police initially responded to what appeared to be a single-vehicle accident around 5:10 a.m. a car had veered off the road and struck a utility pole. Inside the vehicle, they discovered Ms.
Murry, who had sustained at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A man, later identified as 28-year-old Angelo Jackson, was also present at the crash site. When an officer attempted to make contact with him, he fled on foot while in possession of a firearm. Shortly after fleeing the vehicle, Jackson shot himself in the head. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment but ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Further investigation revealed that Johnesia Murry and Angelo Jackson were in a romantic relationship and resided at the same address. The incident was investigated as an apparent murder-suicide. It was reported that the couple had four children together. The investigation into the circumstances that led to this tragic outcome was handled by the Bureau of Crimes Against Persons.
