Shavay Davis, a 29-year-old Black woman, was the victim of a fatal shooting discovered on the morning of September 19, 2022, in the Greater Ville neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. Homicide detectives were dispatched to a residence in the 4000 block of Lexington Avenue around 10:00 a.m. following a call for help. Upon entering the home, officers found Davis deceased in her bed, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
The scene revealed a double tragedy, as Davis’s dog was
also discovered shot to death right next to her. The gruesome discovery was made by Davis's ex-boyfriend, who had arrived at the residence and subsequently contacted authorities. Police noted that two young children were present inside the home at the time of the shooting, but they were fortunately physically unharmed.
Investigators initially looked into signs of forced entry, with reports indicating that a barbecue pit outside an open window may have been used to gain access to the property. Despite the presence of potential evidence and the immediate involvement of homicide detectives, the case faced significant challenges.
As of late 2025, no arrests had been made in connection with Shavay Davis's death, and law enforcement had not publicly identified any suspects. The investigation remained open, with police and community leaders urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in solving the homicide.
