In the summer of 2021, a quiet morning in Kansas City was disrupted by a grim discovery that would launch a homicide investigation. On Monday, July 12th, police were called to the area of East 16th Street and Oakley Avenue shortly after 9:30 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, residents directed them to a vehicle that had crashed into a fence and power lines in an alley.
