On the afternoon of June 1, 2020, officers with the Kansas City Police Department were dispatched to a scene following reports of a shooting in a busy section of the city. Shortly before 1:15 p.m., authorities arrived at the intersection of West 31st Street and Broadway Boulevard, an area typically bustling with activity in Kansas City, Missouri. There, inside a vehicle, they discovered a male teenager suffering from gunshot wounds.
