Derrick Wallace, a 31-year-old man from Kansas City, Missouri, was found dead on February 2, 2020. His body was discovered at an abandoned homeless camp near East 9th Street and Hardesty Avenue. The initial discovery was made by Kansas City police officers responding to a report of a dead body. Wallace's body was found burned beyond recognition on top of a shopping cart, which was still smoldering when officers arrived.
