Jonathan Rubio "Johnny" Cruz, a 19-year-old from Saint Louis, Missouri, tragically lost his life on July 19, 2021. He was shot and killed near a barbershop on Cherokee Street in south St. Louis. The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. when police were called to the intersection of Cherokee Street and Minnesota Avenue following reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found Cruz suffering from a gunshot wound. He was unconscious and not breathing, and was pronounced dead shortly after.
