In the summer of 2021, the life of a once-promising basketball talent from St. Louis, Missouri, was tragically cut short. Cameron Biedscheid, a 27-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on the evening of July 23, 2021. The incident occurred in the 6800 block of Champaigne Drive in Florissant, the very same block where he resided. After being found with gunshot wounds, Biedscheid was quickly transported to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead shortly
after his arrival.
Biedscheid's death sent ripples through the St. Louis basketball community, where he was remembered as a phenomenal high school player. During his time at Cardinal Ritter College Prep, he was a celebrated athlete, earning prestigious accolades such as Mr. Show-Me Basketball, St. Louis Metro player of the year, and St. Louis Post-Dispatch player of the year for the 2011-12 season. His high school success led him to play college basketball at the University of Notre Dame for his freshman year. His collegiate career also included time with the University of Missouri, Jacksonville State, Louisiana State University-Shreveport, and Harris-Stowe State University.
Following the shooting, the St. Louis County Police Department opened an investigation into Biedscheid's death. Despite their efforts and pleas to the public for information, the case has grown cold. To date, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The investigation into the murder of Cameron Biedscheid remains ongoing as his family, friends, and the community continue to await answers and seek justice for a life ended too soon.
