On the early morning of November 23, 2014, a violent altercation erupted outside Cuetopia Billiards & Sports Bar, located along West Florissant Avenue in Florissant, Missouri. The disturbance began around 1:00 a.m. in the establishment's parking lot, where a large fight broke out involving multiple individuals. During the chaos, witnesses reported that at least three men fired gunshots. Amidst the gunfire, 28-year-old male Brandon Ferguson was struck by a bullet. In a desperate attempt to flee the violence, he was driven away from the scene in a silver Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle was later discovered abandoned a short distance away with Ferguson still inside. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Law enforcement officers from St. Louis County launched an investigation into the homicide, initially struggling to identify the specific shooter among the crowd. For months, detectives appealed to the public for witnesses who had been present at the pool hall that night to come forward with information. The investigation eventually pointed toward a specific suspect, and in April 2015, authorities charged Tony T. Johnson, a man from Attica who was 27 years old at the time, with the crime. Johnson faced multiple serious charges, including second-degree murder, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and tampering with physical evidence.

The legal proceedings against Johnson continued for over a year following his arrest. By October 2016, the case reached its conclusion in the St. Louis County Circuit Court. Presiding Judge Michael T. Jamison handed down the sentence for the killing of Brandon Ferguson. Tony Johnson, who was then listed as a resident of Bellefontaine Neighbors, was sentenced to serve seven years in prison for his role in the fatal shooting that night outside the Florissant pool hall.
