In the early morning hours of November 8, 2025, a tragic event unfolded in a southwest Oklahoma City home that claimed the life of 20-year-old Christopher Sosa. A Hispanic male, Sosa was discovered by police responding to a shooting call around 8:17 a.m. in the 2400 block of SW 23rd Street. He was found deceased at the scene, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
The circumstances leading to the shooting began to surface as the investigation progressed.
It was revealed that the incident was allegedly sparked by a domestic situation. According to reports, the suspect, 23-year-old Ruben Orrantia-Silva, became enraged after finding his sister in bed with Sosa. The two had reportedly been on a date the previous evening. Orrantia-Silva is accused of breaking down the door to the room where they were and shooting Sosa. The sister of the suspect reportedly told authorities that Sosa and Orrantia-Silva had been friends and she did not know why he would commit such an act.
Following the shooting, a search for the suspect ensued, with a nearby business providing security footage of an individual fleeing the scene. The Oklahoma City Police Department apprehended Orrantia-Silva early the next morning. He was subsequently booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a complaint of first-degree murder. Further investigation revealed that Orrantia-Silva had outstanding felony warrants from 2023 for kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault and battery by strangulation, and other charges. Neighbors in the area described the house where the shooting occurred as a known 'drug house' with a history of trouble, noting that another deceased individual had been found behind the residence the previous month.
