In the early hours of a Wednesday morning in southwest Oklahoma City, the life of 19-year-old Daniel Dylan Green Jr. was tragically cut short. On July 28, 2021, the young man, known affectionately as 'Little Danny,' was fatally shot at an apartment complex located near SW 44th and S. Drexel Ave. The incident unfolded around 1 a.m. when Green, who was with his father, noticed a group of individuals in the parking lot who appeared to be breaking into vehicles.
Concerned about the
suspicious activity, Daniel and his father went outside to investigate. An altercation ensued with the individuals they had observed. During this confrontation, one of the suspects allegedly opened fire, striking Daniel. Despite the immediate response of emergency services, Green succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His father, who had been by his side, was unharmed in the shooting. The assailants fled the area immediately after the fatal encounter.
The investigation into the senseless killing of Daniel Green Jr. led Oklahoma City police to identify two suspects. In the days following the shooting, authorities arrested 19-year-old Damarco Gibbs and a 17-year-old male whose name was not publicly released due to his juvenile status at the time of the offense. Both individuals were taken into custody and subsequently faced charges of first-degree murder in connection with Daniel's death.
