On Friday, December 3, 2021, the community of Joplin, Missouri, bid farewell to a lifelong resident, Gary Joseph Schriever, who passed away at his home at the age of 70. Born in Carthage, Missouri, on May 14, 1951, he was the son of Roland Louis and Mary Agnes Schriever. His early years were rooted in the local area, where he attended McAuley Catholic High School, graduating with the class of 1968.
Following his education, he answered the call to duty, proudly serving his country as a member of the United States Army before returning to civilian life in Missouri.
Upon his return, Gary established a long career at Teledyne Industries in Neosho, Missouri, where he worked for many years. Beyond his professional life, he was known for an adventurous spirit and a deep love for the outdoors, often spending his time cherishing moments with friends and family. He was remembered by those who knew him as someone who valued the connections he made throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Larry Schriever, leaving behind a legacy of memories for his surviving siblings and extended family.
Services to honor his life were arranged under the care of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary. A Funeral Mass was scheduled at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Reverend Joe Weidenbenner officiating, followed by inurnment at Park Cemetery in Carthage. As his passing was a result of natural causes at his residence, there were no criminal investigations, suspects, or arrests associated with his death.
