Jake Reed, a 27-year-old police officer from Joplin, Missouri, tragically lost his life on March 9, 2022, after being critically injured in the line of duty on March 8, 2022. Officer Reed, along with Corporal Ben Cooper, responded to a disturbance call at a shopping center on Geneva Avenue. During the attempt to take a suspect into custody, the individual opened fire on the officers, critically wounding both Reed and Cooper.
