On January 27, 2022, law enforcement officials in Houston, Missouri, responded to a residence following a request to assist emergency medical services with a report of an unresponsive person. Upon arriving at the home in Texas County, officers discovered a tragic scene involving three deceased individuals. Among the victims was 57-year-old Deborah Ann German, a female resident of the home. The discovery prompted an immediate investigation by the Houston Police Department into the circumstances surrounding the violent event.
Inside the residence, investigators found the body of Deborah German alongside her 16-year-old son, Benjamin Pardun. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Authorities also located a third individual, identified as 66-year-old Gregory Pardun, who was Deborah’s husband and Benjamin’s father. Determining the sequence of events, police concluded that Gregory Pardun had shot and killed both his wife and teenage son before turning the weapon on himself. The coroner pronounced all three dead at the scene, and the incident was classified as a double murder-suicide.
Due to the death of the sole suspect, Gregory Pardun, at the scene, no arrests were made in connection with the killings. The Houston Police Department subsequently announced that there was no ongoing threat to the community and closed the case as a domestic violence incident. Deborah German, who was born in Ventura, California, was remembered by surviving family members, including her three other sons, in a private service held shortly after the tragedy.
