Carl Steffler, a 66-year-old man from Kaunakakai, Hawaii, was last seen on October 3, 2019, near the Kaunakakai Harbor. Early that morning, around 3:30 a.m., surveillance footage captured Steffler walking to the end of a catwalk at the harbor, where he left some personal items before swimming approximately 750 yards offshore. This was the last known sighting of him, as he swam out of camera range and never returned.
