Sheila Rae Doyle, age 66, was last seen at her summer home in the Salt Pond subdivision of Bethany Beach, Delaware, around 1:00 p.m. on June 15, 2020. She was supposed to return to her Fairfax, Virginia, residence the following day but never arrived. Her vehicle, a black 2020 Buick Enclave, was found later that same day in a park in Alexandria, Virginia.
Investigators suspect that Sheila was murdered by her 35-year-old son, Brian Doyle, who was the last person known to have seen her.
Brian was found deceased two days after Sheila's disappearance, although details about the cause or location of his death have not been disclosed. Prior to his death, Brian had visited various locations in Delaware, including Primehook Road near Milton, Route 113 in Milford, and areas near Newark.
A significant clue in the investigation is the disappearance of an eight-by-ten-foot rug from Sheila's home, which authorities are still attempting to locate.
