Mary Elizabeth Dietz, 78, was last seen on October 14, 1997, at her home on Lantern Lane in Selbyville, Delaware. Early that morning, at approximately 3:30 a.m., she was reportedly waiting for her daily newspaper when she disappeared. Mary, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease, had been known to wander and was often seen in a disoriented state. Neighbors recalled that she sometimes searched through a dumpster behind her residence.
